BALTIMORE, MD— The No. 3 Bowie State women's basketball team will take on North No. 1 Virginia State  Trojans in the semifinal round of the 2025 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday, Feb. 28 at 12 p.m. inside the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Md. 

This matchup will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+ (https://plus.espn.com/), with the championship game also being shown on ESPNU.

The Series
• Bowie State and Virginia State will meet for the 35th time since 2008.
• The Trojans have won three of the last five meetings against the Bulldogs, entering this semifinal round matchup. 
• In their last meeting, Virginia State defeated Bowie State, 75-52, inside A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, Md., earlier this season.
• In their most recent CIAA Tournament encounter, Bowie State triumphed over Virginia State with a 53-49 victory during the 2018 semifinals in Charlotte, N.C. 

Last Time Out for the Bulldogs 
The Bulldogs (19-11) won its quarterfinal matchup against Livingstone College, 68-54 Thursday evening. The Bulldogs had four players score in double figures, led by the game MVP Mia Smith who recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Destiny Ryles, finished with a game-high 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals and Shelby Ricks added 15 points.

Scouting Virginia State   
 No. 1 (North) Virginia State (22-5) enters the semifinal round of the CIAA Tournament on a seven-game winning streak. The Trojans has a third-best offense, averaging 68.6 ppg. VSU is led by Carmen Kweti, a dominant force on the boards, leading the CIAA with an impressive 12.0 rebounds per game. Senior Amesha Miller is the backbone of VSU's offense, ranking first in the CIAA in field goal percentage at 49%.
 
At Stake
The winner between Bowie State and Virginia State will advance to the CIAA Championship game on Saturday, Mar. 1, and will face the winner between No. 2 (North) Virginia Union and No. 1 (South) Fayetteville State inside CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, Md., at 1 p.m.
