CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Bowie State softball student-athletes Coreena Dunham and Mykhl Young have been named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Weekly Honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Dunham was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week, while Young earned her second straight Rookie of the Week accolade.
The Glen Allen, Va., native has been a key contributor for the Bulldogs, making an impact both defensively and offensively. The catcher and utility player has maintained a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, recording 34 putouts and four assists without an error this season. At the plate, Young has posted a .450 on-base percentage through seven games. She has drawn seven walks and stolen three bases, showcasing her ability to get on base and create scoring opportunities for the Bulldogs.
Hailing from Audubon, Pa., Dunham has been exceptional defensively, recording 25 putouts and 2 assists with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. The junior has not made a single error, establishing herself as one of Bowie State's most dependable defenders. Her consistency and swift reactions are crucial in neutralizing opponents, further elevating her impact on the field.

Bowie State is set to begin Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association (CIAA) play on Mar. 20-22 for the CIAA Round-Up at Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh, NC. The Bulldogs will face Claflin to open up the round-up with the first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m. on Mar. 20.
