BOWIE, MD – Bowie State women's tennis (0-2, 0-2 CIAA) came up short against Virginia Union (1-1, 1-1 CIAA), 4-3, in a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) match Tuesday afternoon at the BSU Athletics Tennis Court.
In doubles play, Torrienne Emery and Kayla Lowery secured a dominant 6-0 win at the No. 1 spot, but Virginia Union clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory at No. 2 and a default win at No. 3.
BSU delivered strong singles performances, with Emery, Lowery, and Nakari Blunt each winning in straight sets. Emery controlled the No. 1 match, 6-2, 6-2, while Lowery earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Blunt was flawless at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-0. However, Virginia Union capitalized on default wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots to secure the overall match victory.
