BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's tennis team (2-4, 0-4 CIAA) dominated Trinity (DC), securing a 6-1 victory on Mar. 27. The Bulldogs swept their opponents in both singles and doubles play at the BSU Softball Field.
In doubles action,
Torrienne Emery and
Kayla Lowery put on a dominant performance, claiming a 6-1 victory. Likewise,
Nakari Blunt and
Verneice Herndon delivered an equally commanding 6-1 win, setting the tone for the Bulldogs' strong start.
In singles play, the Bulldogs maintained their dominance. At No. 1, CIAA Player of the Week Emery showcased her talent with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 victory. Lowery battled at No. 2, securing an identical 6-0, 6-0 win. At No. 3, Blunt continued her progress with a strong 6-1, 6-0 performance while Herndon was unstoppable at No. 4, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Tamia Byrom rounded out the Bulldogs' wins at No. 5 with another dominant 6-0, 6-0 finish.
The Tigers managed to claim a point due to default wins at the No. 6 position.
