RICHMOND, VA -- The Bowie State women's tennis team (2-9, 0-8 CIAA) fought hard but came up short against Northern Division foe Virginia Union (2-5, 2-5 CIAA) on Saturday at Battery Park in Richomnd, VA.
In doubles play, the duo of Torrienne Emery and Tamia Byrom partnered up and pulled off the victory, 6-4. Nakari Blunt and Verneice Herndon reunited for duo play but were defeated 3-6 by the Lady Panthers.
In singles action, Emery lead at the No.1 spot recording a victory in a two set match 6-2, 6-1 while Blunt secured a win at the No.2 slot in a three-set match (4-6,6-2,10-7). Byrom defeated her opponent in the No. 4 slot 6-0,6-1. Herndon was topped by her opponent at the No. 3 2-6, 1-6.
Virginia Union also claimed points by default at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions.
