Bulldogs Postseason Run Ends in Narrow 5-4 Loss to West Chester

STROUDSBURG, PA -- The Bowie State softball team (27-20) postseason run came to a hard-fought end Saturday morning at Creekview Park, as a late rally by West Chester (33-18) edged the Bulldogs, 5-4, despite a strong start.

Makayla Drakeford was charged with the loss in the circle for Bowie State.

At the plate, the Bulldogs were led by Taylor Dawkins, who went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Lisa Frias added a strong performance, finishing 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Jayla Hill also contributed offensively, going 2-for-3 on the day.

The Matchup
The Bulldogs struck early, plating one run in the top of the first inning to get on the board. Coreena Dunham scored the lone run of the frame to give Bowie State an early 1-0 lead.

The game was halted after the third inning due to poor field visibility and was scheduled to resume the next day at 11 a.m.

When play resumed, Bowie State quickly added to its lead with an RBI double from Frias in the fourth, making it 4-0. However, the Bulldogs couldn't hold on, as West Chester rallied with five runs over the final three innings to complete a 5-4 comeback victory.
