BOWIE, MD -- Bowie State University softball student athletes Coreena Dunham and Lindsey George have been named to the 2025 All-Atlantic Region Softball Team, as announced by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) on Monday afternoon.
"Coco and Lindsey have been instrumental in securing the last two championships", said head coach Ed Powell. "They're consistently stepping into vital leadership roles both on and off the field. Their unwavering dedication, infectious energy, and passionate spirit have not only elevated the team's performance but also inspired their teammates every single day."
Junior outfielder Dunham started all 41 games for the Bulldogs this season. She tallied 53 hits, including 13 doubles, three triples, and five home runs, while driving in 31 RBIs and scoring 51 runs. Dunham posted an impressive .398 batting average, along with a .654 slugging percentage and a .467 on-base percentage. She was a force on the basepaths, going 30-for-35 in stolen base attempts.
Defensively, the Audubon, Pa. native was flawless, recording 79 putouts and two assists without a single error, earning a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Dunham led the team in both runs scored and stolen bases, establishing herself as one of the top offensive threats in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). She is a two-time CIAA Defensive Player of the Week and was named a first team All-CIAA outfielder.
"They lead by example, bringing intensity, heart, and a deep sense of camaraderie that has become the backbone of the team's culture," added Powell. "Loved and respected by their peers, Coco and Lindsey embody the very spirit of what it means to be champions."
Senior pitcher George, a Fayetteville, Ga. native, appeared in 44 games for the Bulldogs, including 24 starts in the pitching circle. She compiled a 12-9 record with a 3.72 ERA across 118.2 innings of work. George struck out 104 batters, issued 38 walks, and recorded five complete games, two shutouts, and one save.
Defensively, she posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, recording 10 putouts and 16 assists without committing an error. George also made a strong impact at the plate, batting .349 with 29 hits, including three doubles, one triple, and two home runs. A steady and reliable presence both in the circle and offensively, George was named CIAA Pitcher of the Week twice and earned the prestigious title of the 2025 CIAA Player of the Year.
