Scouting Bowie State
Bowie State looks to regroup in CIAA play after dropping its conference opener at Virginia State.
Lyric Snowden leads the attack with 3.19 kills per set and ranks among the top offensive threats in the league, while
Nina Edwards adds 1.95 kills per set and stands as one of the CIAA's leaders in blocks at 1.07 per set.
Nicole Taylor contributes 1.93 kills per set to balance the front row, and
Trinity Loundmon directs the offense with 4.05 assists per set. Defensively,
Taylor Johnson anchors the back row with 141 digs (3.28 per set), and the Bulldogs rank fourth in the CIAA in team blocks (1.93 per set).
Bulldogs Last Timeout
BSU fell in straight sets at Virginia State (25-21, 25-23, 25-23). The Bulldogs held leads in all three frames behind strong play from Snowden, Edwards, and Taylor, but late Trojan rallies proved the difference as VSU closed out each set down the stretch.
Scouting Elizabeth City State
Elizabeth City State looks to turn the corner in CIAA play after an 0-8 start to the season. Kendall Washington leads the Lady Vikings' attack with 2.36 kills per set, while Jorja Hoffmann adds 1.72 kills per set and a team-high 14 service aces. Clarke Blakemore contributes 1.32 kills per set along with 17 total blocks, and Serenity Lunnermon directs the offense with 4.72 assists per set. Defensively, Raven Bailey paces the back row with 50 digs (3.85 per set), and ECSU averages 1.52 blocks per set as a team.
Lady Vikings Last Timeout
ECSU came up just short in a 3-0 loss at Virginia Union (31-29, 25-21, 26-24). Clarke Blakemore led the Lady Vikings with nine kills and three aces, while Christen Brisbane and Jorja Hoffmann added seven kills apiece. ECSU's serve was a bright spot with 11 total aces, and Sydnee White anchored the defense with a match-high 15 digs.
