FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Bowie State men's basketball team (4-13, 2-4 CIAA) fell 108–80 to Fayetteville State on Saturday afternoon inside Capel Arena.
The Bulldogs finished with 44 points in the paint, but the Broncos' 34 second-chance points proved to be the difference in the CIAA matchup.
Fayetteville State opened the game with a 6–0 run, but Bowie State answered with a three-pointer from
Guy Fauntleroy, assisted by
KJ West, to cut the deficit early. Despite strong interior play from
Joseph Allen, the Broncos capitalized on turnovers and controlled the glass, building momentum throughout the first half. Fayetteville State closed the opening period with a late three-pointer to take a 61–30 lead into the break.
BSU continued to compete in the second half, finding success inside as Allen scored multiple baskets in the paint and made key defensive plays. West added fast-break points to spark the Bulldogs, but Fayetteville State's balanced scoring attack and efficient offense kept the game out of reach. The Broncos added late baskets down the stretch to secure the 108–80 victory.
