WILMINGTON, DE — The Bowie State men's basketball team (5-14, 3-4 CIAA, 0-1 North) dropped a hard-fought 77–73 decision to Lincoln University (PA) (8-11, 3-4 CIAA, 1-0 North) on Saturday afternoon inside Chase Fieldhouse.
The Bulldogs forced 20 points off Lincoln (PA) turnovers, but a 42–30 rebounding disadvantage proved costly in the four-point loss.
Bowie State set the tone early, jumping out to a 10–5 lead in the opening minutes behind strong play from
KJ West, who converted at the free-throw line and finished a fast-break dunk with 16:52 remaining in the first half. LUPA responded with a Draven Pilson 3-pointer to trim the deficit to 24–20 with 4:40 left.
Despite a late push from the Lions, including baskets from Ronald Bridges Jr. and Amadou Fall, the Bulldogs maintained control heading into the break. A last-second jumper from
Jailin Landis gave Bowie State a 35–32 advantage at halftime.
The second half featured multiple lead changes, but the Lions used a late scoring surge to pull ahead.
BSU continued to battle, as
Joseph Allen scored on a layup and jumper to keep the Bulldogs within reach.
Jaiden McGhee added a late layup to cut the deficit to 71–66, but timely baskets from LUPA allowed the Lions to close out the contest.
