BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State men's basketball team (4-11, 2-2 CIAA) fell 80–75 to Shaw University (10-2, 2-2 CIAA) on Saturday afternoon inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
The Bulldogs connected on 11 of 20 attempts from 3-point range, but Shaw controlled the paint, scoring 50 points inside to swing the contest in the Bears' favor.
BSU set the tempo early with a fast-break dunk by
KJ West on the opening possession. The Bulldogs found success on the perimeter throughout the first half, with
Joseph Allen knocking down three 3-pointers and controlling the glass. SU countered with consistent interior scoring and edged ahead late in the half to take a 44–38 lead into the break.
BSU opened the second half with renewed energy, trimming the deficit behind back-to-back 3-pointers from
Guy Fauntleroy to pull within two. Bowie State continued to apply pressure and remained within striking distance, but Shaw answered with a timely run to regain control.
The Bulldogs made a final push in the closing minutes, but Shaw sealed the outcome at the free-throw line to secure the five-point road victory.
