Bulldogs Tally Second Consecutive Sweep vs Lady Lions

BOWIE, Md. — Bowie State (12-13, 9-9 CIAA) swept Lincoln (PA) (2-26, 1-17 CIAA) 3-0 on Tuesday, winning 25-9, 25-15, 25-15 inside A.C. Jordan Arena. The Bulldogs opened the first set with an 8-0 run and finished with 12 service aces while holding Lincoln (PA) to a -.054 hitting percentage.

BSU scored the first eight points of the opening set, getting kills from Amara Pope and Payton Swinton, three aces with Trinity Loundmon serving and Pope block to move ahead 8-0. Lincoln (PA) got on the board on Amira Billingsley's kill, but the Bulldogs kept the gap wide as Spring Terry served an ace, Pope added another kill and Gabrielle Hale's ace pushed the score to 14-4. After Lincoln (PA) cut it to 14-6, Terry had two kills around a Madison James ace during a BSU stretch to 19-6, and the Bulldogs later closed the set with Terry and James kills before Swinton's block finished a 25-9 set win.

The Bulldogs then took the first five points of the second set, with Terry serving through most of the stretch as the Lady Lions committed three setting errors and two attack errors. Lincoln (PA) cut into the margin with a kill by Elise Carter and a block by Amira Billingsley, but James answered with two kills to help the Bulldogs stay in front 8-4. From there, the Bulldogs won seven of the final eight rallies, including a Crooks block and a Damani Myers kill, and closed the set 25-15 on a Lincoln (PA) setting error.

After the teams traded points to 5-4, BSU created early separation with a Christina San kill, a Lincoln (PA) attack error and another San kill for an 8-4 lead. The Lady Lions got one point back, but a service error started a seven-point Bulldogs run, with Terry serving through a James kill, two aces, a Corey Bradley kill and two Lincoln (PA) errors to push the set to 15-5. Lincoln (PA) later worked the score to 18-13 behind a BSU service error, a Bulldogs attack error and an Elise Carter kill. Myers followed with three kills during a six-point BSU run to 24-13, and after Lincoln (PA) won the next two points, a service error closed the Bulldogs' 25-15 set win.

Terry led BSU with seven kills while hitting .417 and added three service aces for 10 points. Loundmon finished with 13 assists and three aces. Mil'lanni Marte collected 13 digs, three assists and one ace. Swinton added seven assists, six digs, one ace and a solo block.
