BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State men's basketball team dropped a 63–54 divisional contest to Bluefield State on Monday night inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
The Bulldogs (5–19, 3–10 CIAA, 0-7 North) battled back in the second half after facing a sizable halftime deficit, but were unable to fully close the gap after trailing 37–19 at the break. Bowie State outscored BLU 35–26 over the final 20 minutes.
Bluefield State set the tone early, jumping out to a quick lead behind perimeter shooting from Myles Pierre, who knocked down two early 3-pointers. Bowie State got on the board with a layup from
Jaiden McGhee, but the visitors maintained control throughout the half.
Warren Mouganda added key baskets late in the period as BState carried momentum into intermission.
BSU emerged from the locker room with renewed energy and a stronger presence.
Jailin Landis sparked the run with a fast-break dunk and an early layup, while
KJ West provided consistent offense in the paint to help the Bulldogs chip away. Despite Bowie State's push, Bluefield State answered at the free-throw line, where Anthony Latty converted crucial attempts down the stretch to keep the Bulldogs at bay. A late layup by West capped the scoring, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
