ETTRICK, VA — The Bowie State women's tennis team (2–12, 0–11 CIAA) fell to Virginia State, 6–0, in a CIAA Northern Division matchup on Saturday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex.
Virginia State seized control early by capturing the doubles point, taking victories at No. 1 and No. 2, while the No. 3 match featuring
Daisy Pentorn and
Mil'lanni Marte went unfinished. The early deficit put the Bulldogs in catch-up mode heading into singles play.
In singles competition, BSU battled across the lineup but was unable to turn the momentum.
Nakari Blunt (No. 1) and
Payton Swinton (No. 2) competed at the top flights, while
Verneice Herndon (No. 3),
Asia Johnson (No. 4) and
Mil'lanni Marte (No. 5) rounded out the Bulldogs' efforts. Despite competitive moments, the Trojans secured all five completed matches to clinch the team victory.
