Bowie, MD -- The Bowie State women's volleyball team will open its 2026 season at the Fairmont State Classic, hosted by Fairmont State University in Fairmont, WV, on Friday, Aug. 28, and Saturday, Aug. 29. The Bulldogs face FSU at 11 a.m., and East Stroudsburg at 3 p.m. on Friday before taking on Anderson University at 10 a.m. and Lees-McRae College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

2025 Bowie State Women's Volleyball
The Bulldogs head into this weekend ready to launch their 2026 campaign with a roster filled with returning experience and talented newcomers. After finishing 14-18 overall and 9-7 in CIAA play last season, the Bulldogs made it to the Semi-Finals of the conference championship tournament, head coach Edric Poitier, who enters his fifth season at the helm, is aiming to take Bowie State to the next level.
Poitier, with nine returners back on the roster, Bowie State has a strong core of student-athletes who understand what it takes to compete at a high level in the CIAA led by a combination of veterans and new transfer, in particularly Gabby Hale, the newest addition to the Bulldog roster and All-CIAA setter. Hale earned First Team All-CIAA honors at Bluefield State last season and was selected to the 2026 preseason team following her transfer to Bowie State.
Fairmont State
Fairmont State put together a strong 2025 season, finishing 23-11 overall and 10-4 in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play. The Falcons got off to a fast start, winning their first five matches, including victories over Elizabeth City State, Palm Beach Atlantic, UVA Wise, Slippery Rock and Walsh.
East Stroudsburg University
East Stroudsburg put together one of the best seasons in program history in 2025. The Warriors finished 27-6 overall and 13-1 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play, winning the PSAC Championship for the sixth time in program history and the first time since 2019.
Anderson University
Anderson put together a historic 2025 season, finishing 23-8 overall and 16-4 in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play. The Trojans battled through a challenging schedule and found their stride as the season progressed, eventually earning a spot in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
Lees-McRae College
Lees-McRae finished the 2025 season with a 13-18 overall record and 12-8 mark in Conference Carolinas (CC) play. The Bobcats showed plenty of fight throughout the season, including a memorable five-set victory over King in their home opener.

After the Fairmont State Classic, the Bulldogs will hit the road again on Sept. 15 to compete against Norfolk State. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
