Nyema Washington reconnects with the Bulldogs football program after serving one season as Passing Coordinator/Receivers Coach at Mountain East Conference (MEC) member West Virginia State University in 2018. Prior to that, Washington served as a Graduate Assistant at Bowie State working with the quarterbacks.
His accolades while at West Virginia State include coaching Tyrell Henderson to an All-MEC First Team selection, helped the team rank second in the MEC in Total Offense (452.7 yards per game), third in MEC Scoring Offense (32.5 points per game), third in MEC Passing Offense (230.0 yards per game) and third in MEC Passing Efficiency (139.4)
During his one playing season (2015) at Bowie State, Washington threw for 992 passing yards, completing 73-of-121 passes (six interceptions) and 12 passing touchdowns and rushed for 43 yards, scoring three touchdowns. Washington's best game came against Winston-Salem State (Nov. 14) where he threw for 364 passing yards, completing 20-of-28 passes and five touchdowns. Other personal accolades for Washington include CIAA Quarterback of the Week (11/7/15), CIAA Championship Game Team MVP (2015) and Dr. Calvin’s 2015 Mid-Major Co-Freshman of the Year.
