(Baltimore, Md.) Meeting for the first time since 1983, Bowie State and Morgan State renewed a rivalry in Morgan State's Hill Fieldhouse. Division I Morgan State, a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, shot a blistering 60% in the second half and pulled away to defeat Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs 71-58.
Morgan State led much of the first half but visiting Bowie State did manage to take a lead twice in the first period. Bowie State hit 13-of-24 first half field goals (54%) and held the Morgan State's Lady Bears to 11-of-37 field goal shooting (30%) over the first 20 minutes. However, of Morgan State's 11 first half field goals, four were behind the arc, compared to 1-of-5 behind the 3-point line for Bowie State. Morgan State went into the half with a slim 31-29 lead.
Morgan State (7-1) led by five three times in first half of the second period, but the BSU Lady Bulldogs took its largest lead at the 9:16 mark on back-to-back field goals by sophomore
Denisha Kenion (Ft. Washington, MD, Oxon Hill). Unfortunately for Bowie State, Morgan State closed the game with a 26-11 run to snap Bowie State's three-game winning streak.
The most glaring stat line in the contest was free throw shooting. Bowie State went to the charity stripe just seven times making three. Compare that to 25 free throw attempts for Morgan State, with the Lady Bears hitting 20.

Bianca Lee (Temple Hills, MD, Archbishop Carroll) with 18 points on 7-of-15 field goal shooting, 2-of-5 behind the 3-point line and 2-of-4 from the free throw line. Sophomore
Teaunsha Robinson (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) contributed 16 points to go along with six rebounds. Kenion ended the game with 14 points.
Corin Adams paced Morgan State with 14 points and Erin Hawkins added 13 points in the win. Stacy Hunt and Aaries Reed scored in double figures as well for the lady Bears, adding 11 and 10 points respectively.
Bowie State will return to action – Wednesday (12/10) traveling across town to face the University of the District of Columbia.
