BOX SCORE

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC)  Shaw University's Lady Bears were no match for Bowie State University on opening day of the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up.  BSU's Lady Bulldogs won in three straight sets, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-17.

The onslaught was led by seniors Alycia Williams-Chase (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) and Tamira Conner Rogers (Ft. Washington, MD, Oxon Hill) and junior Breaun Garner (Beltsville, MD, Northwestern).  Williams-Chase and Conner Rogers accounted for nine and eight kills respectively and Garner added another six kills.  Junior Itumeleng Shadreck (Bostwana Africa, East Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central) tallied 21 assists and tied for a team-high five digs.  Senior Jasmine McNair (Germantown, MD, Seneca Valley) continued her steady play and was credited with a game-high five service aces.

Marquita Wilson led Shaw with seven kills while teammate Jade Bibb totaled five kills in the match.  Nia Bailey paced the Lady Bears with 15 assists and Nikita Grant was tops on defense with seven digs.
