Senior Delmar Carey Has Career Night at Fayetteville State

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) Four of the five Bowie State University starters scored in double digits and the Bulldogs torched the Capel Arena nets at a 72 percent second half clip, to runaway from Fayetteville State University by the score of 83-74.

Senior Duke Crews (Hampton, VA, Bethel, Univ. of Tennessee) led Bowie State with 16 points and fellow senior Delmar Carey (Charlotteville, VA, Monticello, Coastal Georgia C.C.) contributed a career-high 12 points and tied his career-high of 11 rebounds for the victorious Bulldogs.

FSU shot just 40.3 percent from the field, was outrebounded 48-31 and committed 18 turnovers.

The Bulldogs racked up 50 points in the paint, compared to 32 for FSU's Broncos. Bowie State's bench also outplayed Fayetteville State, scoring 29 points compared to only eight for the Broncos.

Bowie State (2-1, 2-0 CIAA) has won six of its last seven games against the Broncos. Fayetteville State has not beaten the Bulldogs since a 72-63 win in Capel Arena (February 4, 2006.)

a 19-6 run. Crews and senior Armond Hill (Silver Spring, MD, Springbrook, Montgomery - Rockville C.C.) scored six points in the run, giving BSU a 47-36 lead with 13 minutes left in the contest.

Jamel Carpenter scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Broncos. Jarmel Baxter hit three 3-pointers and scored 14 points, while Jarrick Jones added 12. Paul Lane tallied 10 points and four rebounds.

Besides Crews and Carey, Hill tallied 14 points and senior Andrew Engel (Glen Burnie, MD, Old Mill, Colby C.C.) added 13 points to the book for the BSU starters. Sophomore Travis Hyman (Annapolis, MD, Old Mill, Prince George's C.C.) came off the Bulldogs bench to record a career night, scoring 15 points, snared 10 rebounds and swatted away a game-high three blocks.

Bowie State's Bulldogs will enjoy a few days off for Thanksgiving before returning to the hardwood for a Saturday, November 28th CIAA matchup, hosting the Blue Bears of Livingstone College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena.
