EIGHT BOWIE STATE BULLDOGS NAMED ALL-CIAA

(HAMPTON, Va.) The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce this season's honorees for the All-CIAA Football First and Second Teams and Players of the Year. Of the players named Bowie State is represented by seniors Yusef Dorman-El (Baltimore, MD, Dunbar) and James Hardaway, II (Clinton, MD, Gwynn Park), juniors Sterling Grant-Jones (Baltimore, MD, Edmondson), Terence Peete, Jr. (Memphis, TN, Northwest) and Rodney Webb (Baltimore, MD, Milford Mill Academy) and sophomores Clifton Budd (Silver Spring, MD, Sherwood), James Proctor, Jr. (Capital Heights, MD, Suitland) and Kenneth Turner (Oxon Hill, MD, Oxon Hill).

This year's All-Conference Team is led by Offensive Player of the Year, Quarterback CJ Westler of Chowan University. Westler finished this season at the top of the conference in Passing Average, 285.6 (234 for 432) and Total Offense 240 yds. rushing, 2,856 yds. passing, 309.6 avg.

Defensive Player of the Year, Quintez Smith represents the Shaw University Bears, where he ranks first in Division II in interceptions; 9 for 302 yds., 4 TD's with a long of 90. Smith, a defensive back, has also accumulated 49 total tackles for the season; 35 solo.

Fayetteville State University's Austin Turner is Special Teams Player of the Year. Turner, a senior place kicker, tops the conference in Scoring (Kick) and Scoring with 34-37 PATs; 17-29 FG's for 85 total points.

The players of the year and all conference teams will be formally recognized at the CIAA Football Championship Luncheon on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Durham Marriott at the Civic Center. This event begins at 12 noon.
