(BOWIE, Md.) Bowie State University split a home doubleheader against West Chester (Pa.) University, defeating the Golden Rams 4-3 in game one but dropped a 7-4 decision in the nightcap.
Junior
Kelley Alexander (Damascus, Md., Covenant Life, Montgomery College) hit a bases loaded blooper to short right center field in the bottom of the 7th inning to lead the Lady Bulldogs to the thrilling game one victory over West Chester. Alexander tied for team-high hit honors in game with two in four plate appearances. Seniors
Tiffany Toney (Abilene, TX, Abilene Cooper, The University of Oklahoma ) and
Tricia Corbin (Glen Burnie, MD, Old Mill) also recorded two hits and scored a run apiece. Freshman
Shanae Smoot (Bel Alton, Md., LaPlata) added one run to the scorebook in the opener to go along with one RBI.

Erin MacNamee was 2-for-2 in the loss and Meghan Halberstadt went 2-for-3. Katie Kmiencinski was 3-for-4 with a RBI for West Chester. Shannon Padula suffered the loss, allowing 11 hits while walking three and striking out two.
West Chester (16-6) redeemed themselves in game two. Halberstadt's two-out, RBI single in the top of the fourth broke a 3-3 tie and proved to be the game winning hit. West Chester's Golden Rams tacked on two more in the fifth for insurance.
Corbin paced Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs in the nightcap with three hits and scored two runs.
Senior
Ashley Cook (Port Republic, Md., Calvert, College of Southern Maryland) added two hits in game two and Toney, Smoot, Enders and Brown recorded one hit each. Defensively, senior
Virginia Hockey (Bowie, MD, Mount Saint Mary's University) recorded a game-high 10 putouts in game two.
Bowie State will take a 1-3 season record into tomorrow's scheduled CIAA opener, hosting the Saint Augustine's College Lady Falcons. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., weather permitting.
