(PETERSBURG, Va.) Virginia State University edged Bowie State University 5-4 in match one but cruised to an 8-1 decision in match two of their CIAA doubleheader. The loss evens Bowie State's record at 2-2.

Danielle Fields (Suitland, MD, Suitland) lost her #1 singles match 8-2 to Imani James. Bowie State sophomore
Kyara Lombre (Mitchellville, MD, C.H. Flowers) edged Keisha Holmes 8-6 at #2 singles but Bowie State senior
Lydia Mahon (Hyattsville, MD, Prince George's CC) lost her #3 singles match 8-4 to Kendra Plummer. VSU's Tamilia Hicks lost her #4 singles match 8-2 to Bowie State sophomore
Chelyce Fields (Suitland, MD, Suitland) and senior
Jessica Bond (Silver Spring, MD, John F. Kennedy / Emerson Preparatory School) defeated Ashley Foster 8-2 at #5 singles. Lakevia Ingram beat BSU senior
Jasmine McNair (Germantown, MD, Seneca Valley) 8-2 at #6 singles.
Virginia State won two of the three doubles matches, claiming victories at #1 and #3 in match one.
Danielle Fields and Mahon lost to James and Holmes 8-1 in #1 doubles while Bond and McNair were shutout 8-0 by Plummeer and Ingram #3 doubles.
Bowie State's lone doubles win in match two came at #2 with Lombre and
Chelyce Fields downing Foster and Hicks 8-4.
Virginia State had a relatively easy time in match two of the doubleheader, capturing wins in every match except #5 singles. In that match, Bowie State's Bond blanked Foster 8-0. BSU's Lady Bulldogs will entertain Livingstone College - Saturday, March 14th at 11 a.m. on the BSU campus courts.
