(BOWIE, Md.)  The Bulldogs of Bowie State University declawed the Blue Bears of Livingstone College 51-0 with junior Rodney Webb (Baltimore, MD, Milford Mill Academy) and redshirt freshman Ramono Flowers (Largo, MD) leading the charge with over 100 rushing yards each.

Bowie State (2-2, 1-0 CIAA) got off to a slow start until Webb scored his fIrst of two touchdowns of the afternoon from 19-yards out.  Sophomore Michael Gagne (Baltimore, MD, Parkville) added the extra points, giving BSU's Bulldogs a 7-0 advantage with 3:21 left in the opening quarter.

the season at the 5:03 mark of the second quarter, rushing for a 24-yard score.  Gagne's extra point made it 14-0 and Bowie State carried that lead into halftime.  

The Bowie State defense clamped down on Livingstone's ground game early, holding the Blue Bears to minus 31 rushing yards in the first 30 minutes.  Livingstone was only allowed 40 yards in total first half offense compared to 222 total yards for Bowie State.

It was all Bowie State in the second half as the Bulldogs offense really kicked it into gear.  Webb ran virtually untouched into the Livingstone end zone midway through quarter three, this time from 11-yards out, increasing the home team lead to 21-0 after Gagne's extra point.  Flowers scored his first collegiate touchdown with 53 seconds left in the third, pounding in for a 15-yard score, which pushed Bowie State's lead to 28-0.  Senior Yusef Dorman-El (Baltimore, MD, Dunbar) was credited with a safety  21 seconds later after Livingstone backup quarterback Bryan Aycoth was sacked in the end zone.  

BSU's Flowers added two more touchdown runs in the fourth quarter, scoring from 21 yards and 65 yards respectively, extending the Bowie State Bulldogs lead to 44-0.  Redshirt freshman Keon Redhead (Baltimore, MD, Dunbar) notched his first collegiate touchdown with 2:51 remaining in the game to close out the scoring.

In terms of team statistics, Bowie State rolled up a season-high 594 yards in total offense, setting a new Bowie State record.  The old record of 505 yards occurred in 1995 versus Fairleigh Dickinson.  Of Bowie State's 594 yards of total offense, 456 were rushing, also a new Bowie State record.  Bowie State also tied another Bulldogs record (1982 versus St. Paul's), tallying 25 first downs in the blowout.

On an individual basis, Webb ended the afternoon early (third quarter) but still managed to rush for a career-high 155 yards on 17 carries to go along with two touchdowns, and Flowers was a close second with 146 yards on 10 carries.  Freshmen Tyrae Reid, Jr. (Baltimore, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic) and Emmanuel Yeager (Washington, DC, Coolidge) shared quarterback duties, throwing for 68 and 61 yards respectively.  Sophomore Seth Minter (Baltimore, MD, Catonsville) led Bowie State's receivers with 40 yards and senior Larry Dixon, Jr. (Baltimore, MD, Dunbar, Morgan State Univ.) added another 27 reception yards.

Senior quarterback Steven Williams (Decatur, GA / Georgia State) and redshirt sophomore receiver Christopher Peoples (Mooresville, NC / Mooresville HS) led Livingstone's very limited offense with 72 passing yards and 46 reception yards respectively.  Freshman Jacob Davis (Mathews, NC / Butler HS led the Livingstone Blue Bears tacklers with a game-high 11. 

Livingstone (0-4, 0-1 CIAA) wrapped up the game with just 58 yards in total offense.  Livingstone's Blue Bears tallied 112 passing yards but closed out the game with a minus 54 yards rushing.

Defensively, Bowie State sacked Livingstone's quarterbacks eight times (87 yards) with freshman Brandon Thomas (Suitland, MD, Suitland) racking up a game-high 2.5 sacks for 41 yards.  Sophomore Aaron Henderson (Ft. Washington, MD, Oxon Hill) had two sacks (19 yards) and Dorman-El along with junior Calvin Johnson (Bowie, MD, DeMatha) added one each.  Freshman Chuba Anekwe (Gaithersburg, MD) paced Bowie State with a team-high six tackles to go along with a half a sack and a forced fumble.

Bowie State returns for their fourth home game in a row next Saturday (9/26), hosting the two-time defending champions of Shaw University in the 6th Annual Prince George's Classic.  Kickoff time in BSU's Bulldogs Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
