(BOWIE, MD) The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs basketball team returns from the holiday break and the NCAA mandatory Dead Period, when it hosts the “Cluck U Chicken” Lady Bulldogs Holiday Classic – December 29th and 30th.
Ferris State University (Big Rapids, MI) and Virginia Union University will tip the Classic off at 4 pm on Wednesday (12/29). Ferris State, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association (GLIAC), enters the game with a record of 5-5 while Virginia Union's record stands at 0-5 on the year.
Bowie State (2-3) and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member Gannon University (4-1) will follow at 6 pm. The two programs will be meeting for the third time in the history of the schools, with Gannon holding a 2-0 advantage. Gannon and Bowie State first met November 20, 1992 in Erie (PA), falling to the Lady Knights 81-51. Gannon edged BSU's Lady Bulldogs in last year's season opener for both teams, winning by a score of 65-60 in the opening game of the Clarion (PA) University Classic.
