(BOWIE, Md.) The Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University continued their dominance over Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, downing the Lady Lions 65-56 in a non-conference contest. Bowie State has now one 13 straight games against Lincoln (Pa.) and improve its record to 14-7 overall.
Lincoln (Pa.) led only once in the game at 2-0 on a layup by DeJuana Mosley (Chester, Pa.). Bowie State junior
Brianna Taylor (Upper Marlboro, MD, Riverdale Baptist School) tied the game on the next Lady Bulldogs possession and the home team would never trail again. However, the first half did have six ties but Bowie State was able to take a slim 32-30 lead into the half.
Bowie State went on a 10-2 run to start the second half and eventually grew to 18 points twice (58-40 and 62-44).
The Bowie State bench, which played a 105 of the possible 200 minutes, outscored the Lincoln (Pa.) bench 37-17. Of the Bowie State reserves, junior
Lakisha Walker (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) came of the bench to lead the Lady Bulldogs with a team-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and pulled down five rebounds.
Senior
Denita Hill (Baltimore, MD, St. Frances Academy) scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting (2-of4 behind the 3-point line) and was the only other BSU player to reach double figures.
Lincoln (Pa.) sophomore Sharay Dubose (Salisbury, Md.) led all scorers with a game-high 21 points. Freshman Mfon Ekanem (Springdale, Md.) grabbed a game-high eight rebounds to lead the Lady Lions.
The Lincoln (Pa.) record dips to 3-20 overall and will close out the 2009-2010 season with back-to-back home games (Thursday and Friday) against Saint Paul's College.
Bowie State will play its third game in as many days, hosting Saint Paul's – Wednesday (February 17) at 5:30 p.m., then close out the regular season hosting Virginia Union University on Saturday (February 20th) at 2 p.m.
