BULLDOGS GALLOP PAST LADY BRONCOS 13-5

BOX SCORE

(RALEIGH, N.C.) The three-time defending CIAA champions of Bowie State University had little trouble defeating Fayetteville State University, beating the Lady Broncos 13-5 at Walnut Creek Park on day two of the CIAA Round-Up.

Bowie State and Fayetteville State were meeting for the first time since last seasons conference championships. Fayetteville State held a 2-0 lead after two innings, but Bowie State put four on the scoreboard in the top of the third and never looked back after that.

Senior Breaun Garner (Beltsville, MD, Northwestern) led off the fourth inning with a homer to right center and junior Shalai Tabor (Waldorf, MD, Delaware State Univ.) took one deep in the top of the seventh inning.

BSU's Lady Bulldogs were led by junior Danielle McClay (Silver Spring, MD, Montgomery Blair) and freshmen Amanda Hedgepeth (Odenton, MD, Arundel) and Kristen Lee (Germantown, MD, Northwest) with three hits apiece. McClay and Garner were responsible for three RBI each in the win over the Lady Broncos.

Freshman Megan Alexander (Damascus, Md., Damascus) recorded her second win of the year, striking out five but gave up 11 hits.

Bowie State improves their record to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the CIAA and will take on Johnson C. Smith University later today.
