(BOWIE, Md.) Bowie State's softball team picked up a pair of home conference and divisional victories against Virginia Union defeating the Lady Panthers 11-1 in game one and then 18-0 in game two. BSU improves to 10-9 on the year while Virginia Union falls to 1-6 overall.

Virginia Union's Danielle Brown ripped a double to left in the top of the second and later scored after a double by Gabrielle Easley. Bowie State put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the second, getting that run back. Freshman
Kristen Lee (Germantown, MD, Northwest) reached on a walk then advanced all the way home following a single by senior
Elizabeth Slater (Glen Burnie, MD, Lenoir-Rhyne Univ.).
Tabor pushed the Lady Bulldogs lead to 4-1 with a solo homer to right center to leadoff the third inning and senior
Annette Makle (Brandywine, MD, Gwynn Park) made it 5-1, scoring from third on a Brown single.
Bowie State really closed the door on Virginia Union in the fourth inning, scoring six runs on eight hits, extending the Lady Bulldogs advantage to the final 11-1 score.
Six Bowie State players accounted for two hits and Tabor along with McClay knocked in two RBI each to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
Senior
Faline Brown (Inwood, Hagerstown C.C.) struck out five and held Virginia Union to just three hits in the first game.
Game two was decided in the very first inning, as Bowie State rounded the bases and scored eights on five hits. Bowie State crushed Virginia Union pitching for 19 hits with freshman
Megan Alexander (Damascus, Md., Damascus) helping herself with a game-high four hits. Alexander recorded her second shutout in as many days, holding Virginia Union to five hits.

Aiyana McNair (Baltimore, MD, Parkville) contributed three hits each. McClay and senior
Kelley Alexander (Damascus, Md., Covenant Life, Montgomery College) paced Bowie State with four RBI in the final game.
Errors were a huge stat for Virginia Union as the Lady Panthers committed three in game one and seven in game two.
Bowie State will continue its marathon week, hosting Hampton University in the opening game of the Lady Bulldogs Classic tomorrow (March 20) beginning at 10 am.
