Danielle McClay (Silver Spring, MD, Montgomery Blair) belted a home run and drove in three runs as Bowie State topped Fayetteville State 11-5 to closeout the Lady Bulldogs' CIAA Round-Up weekend at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.
Sophomore
Kristen Lee (Germantown, MD, Northwest) had three hits and drove in two runs while fellow sophomore
Justine Smith (Silver Spring, MD, James Hurbert Blake) had two hits and also drive in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs. Freshman
Adria Lewis (Cumberland, MD, Fort Hill) added a solo home run for Bowie State as McClay finished two-for-five.
Quristeen Brown led all players at the plate, going four-for-four with a home run and an RBI for the Lady Broncos (10-17, 4-3 CIAA). Tiffany Locklear added a home run and had two hits to go with two RBI. Olivia Peavey had a run-scoring single.
Sophomore
Megan Alexander (Damascus, Md., Damascus), who also drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs, scattered five runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings to pick up the victory for Bowie State.
Misty Huber worked six innings in the loss for the Lady Broncos, who suffered four errors that contributed to Bowie State breaking the game open with six runs in the second inning.
Bowie State (6-8, 5-3 CIAA) returns to the diamond - Wednesday (March 16) traveling across town to face Washington Adventist University (formerly Columbia Union College) at 1 pm in a non-conference doubleheader.
