(RALEIGH, N.C.) Bowie State's Lady Bulldogs remained unbeaten in the CIAA, leading off Day Two of the conference softball Round-Up with a 7-3 victory over Shaw's Lady Bears.
Shaw (3-13, 2-1 CIAA) took a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning, but Bowie State tied the game a 1-1 in the top of the second. Freshman
Sharde Alls reached first base on an error and advanced to second on a passed ball. Alls scored on a single by sophomore Kiera Washington.
The lead would change hands two more time before the Lady Bulldogs put together a four hit, three run 6th inning to take a 6-3 lead.
Bowie State (3-2, 3-0 CIAA) added two more runs in the top of the 7th inning with the big hit coming off the bat of freshman
Cara Nance. Freshman
Cassandra Clayborne singled and stole second before Nance laced a triple that scored Clayborne. Nance later scored on a sacrifice fly by sophomore
Adria Lewis to account for the final margin.
Nance and Clayborbe led the Lady Bulldogs with three and two hits respectively. Freshman Haley Flint pitched the final three innings to get the win and even her record at 1-1.
The Bears had six hits in the loss and Bowie State recorded nine hits.
