BOX SCORE
(RALEIGH, N.C.) Saint Augustine's College had no answer for Bowie State University as the Lady Bulldogs crush the Lady Falcons 21-3. Freshman
Cassandra Clayborne and junior
Justine Smith led BSU with three hits each and freshman
Cara Nance along with sophomore
Adria Lewis added a pair of hits each in the victory.
Bowie State scored one run in the bottom of the first inning before exploding for 19 runs in the bottom of the third inning. A Nance ground out to second allowed Clayborne to score from third for BSU's first run of the blowout. Nance reached on single up the middle and stole second and third.
Saint Augustine's scored all their runs (two unearned) in the top half of the third. The Lady Bulldogs sent 23 batters to the plate in the third, recorded 13 hits and would have had more hits had it not been for six Lady Falcons' errors in the inning.
Sophomore
Haley Snyder led off the fourth with a walk and later scored Bowie State's final run following an error by the Saint Augustine's catcher.
In total, Bowie State rocked Lady Falcons pitching for 15 hits while BSU sophomore Meriela Hernandez allowed only four hits. Hernandez struck out five, walked three and keeps her season pitching record perfect a 3-0.
