Erica Atkins recorded two hits each to lead Bowie State to a 10-4 victory over Johnson C. Smith. The win was the first of the season for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead after two and half innings before the Lady Golden Bulls trimmed the BSU advantage to 3-2 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
JCSU tied the game at three after four but Bowie State pushed five runs across in the top of the 5th to take a 9-4 lead. The Lady Bulldogs sent eight to the plate with senior
Megan Alexander and Atkins stroking doubles.

Hayley Flint led off the 7th inning with a walk and later scored following a double by Hernandez to extend their lead to 10-3.
Johnson C. Smith (3-8, 1-2 CIAA) added their final run in the bottom of the 7th. Ashton Byrd received a free pass after being hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Byrd stole second and Brittney Rowe recorded an RBI single.
Johnson S. Smith recorded seven hits in the game while Bowie State was one better at eight. However, errors were plentiful as the Lady Bulldogs had four and the Lady Golden Bulls encountered three.
Bowie State (1-9, 1-0 CIAA) returns to action later today (3/9) versus Livingstone College.
