Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Bowie State University and Shaw University battled for five sets before the Lady Bulldogs claimed a 3-2 victory over the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-13 overall, 1-7 CIAA) defeated the Lady Bears (1-11, 0-6 CIAA) by scores of 24-26, 26-24, 18-25, 25-21 and 15-9.

Senior Brelyn Finley (District Heights, Md.) led the Lady Bulldogs to victory with a team-high 12 kills and 35 total attacks. Freshman India Mason (Greenbelt, MD.) followed with 11 kills and 33 attacks. Senior Briana Flowers (Millersville, Md.) and freshman Amy Harvey (Laurel, MD.) contributed with 15 and 12 set-assists respectively. Sophomore Marissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) paced Bowie State with a match-high 18 digs and fellow sophomore Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) added 14 digs.

Shaw was led by Quianna Myers and Sashane Watson with 10 kills each and combined for 88 of the Lady Bears 158 total attacks. Michelle Oliver was responsible for 29 assists to go along with nine digs. Deja Simpson and Watson combined for 22 digs for the Lady Bears.

Bowie State steps out of conference for its next match, playing a doubleheader at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Match times are set for 6 and 8 pm in Cope Hall.
