ETTRICK, Va. - The Bowie State University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Shaw University on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs season mark goes to 6-7 overall and 5-7 in the conference.
Shaw's Lady Bears (14-3 / 10-2 CIAA) claimed victory at No. 1 and 3 doubles, beating Bowie State 8-1 and 8-0 respectively. The Bowie State combo of senior

Channae Manning (Lanham, Md.) rolled to an 8-1 win over Shaw's Hailli Hanna-Cooke and Omolola Balogun.

Brianna Burke (Boston, Mass.) knocked off Hanna-Cooke by a score of 8-2 at No. 5 singles play. However, the Lady Bears swept the Lady Bulldogs 8-0 at No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles. Shaw was also victorious at No. 4 singles as Menel Ben-Cheikh edged BSU's Manning by a score of 8-6.
BSU will host Virginia Union on Sunday (4/13) and close out the regular season hosting Goldey-Beacom College on Monday (4/14) at 1 pm.
