Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University snapped Bowie State's six-game winning streak and gave the Bulldogs their first conference loss of the season, winning by a score of 61-43. With the setback, Bowie State drops to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in the conference.

Junior
Andre Jackson (Baltimore, Md.) leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 10 followed by seniors
Cameron Knox (Baltimore, Md.) and
Zafir Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) with nine and eight points respectively. Junior
Justin Beck (Ellicott City, Md.) contributed six points and junior
Miles Jackson (Silver Spring, Md.) added five points. Junior
Julian Livingston (Bowie, Md.) and sophomore
Enuoma Ebinum tallied three and two points respectively to round out Bowie State's scorers. Jackson and Livingston were Bowie State's leading rebounders with seven and six respectively.
Leading the charge for Shaw (9-6, 4-1 CIAA) were the three R's, Larry Richardson (21 points), Koron Reed (14 points) and Joe Reid (11 points). Reed was also the games top rebounder with 16 while DeAaron Ward and (Joe) Reid grabbed eight and six boards respectively for the Bears.
Bowie State held an early 13-11 first half lead following an
Andre Jackson dunk, but a Reed layup and free throw at the 8:01 mark shifted the lead over to Shaw and the Bears would not relinquish a lead the rest of the afternoon.
The Bears pushed their lead to eight (23-15) by the 2:10 mark after a 7-0 Shaw run. Bowie State closed the first half with a 7-2 run to close the gap to 25-22 by halftime.
Shaw began the second half with an 8-2 burst over the first four minutes and opened up a double-digit lead (38-28) by the 14:42 mark.
The Bulldogs were able to trim the deficit down to single digits twice, but would get no closer than eight (42-34) after an
Andre Jackson layup with 10:24 left in the contest.
Bowie State shot a dreadful 25 percent in the second half on 8-of-32 shooting, which included 0-of-9 behind the arc compared to 40.7 percent (11-of-27) for Shaw in the final half.
The Bulldogs were out-rebounded 47-38 and shot a season-low 29 percent (17-of-58) from the field.
Bowie State will look to get back to their winning ways on Monday (January 12th) as the Bulldogs travel to Fayetteville State for a 7:30 pm contest in Capel Arena.
