Box Score MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs dug a deep first half hole for themselves allowing Chowan University's Hawks to stroll to a 69-47 victory on Saturday afternoon. The loss sets Bowie State's overall record at 8-10, 3-6 in the conference and 1-2 in the division.

Ty-Nita Baker (Houston, Miss.) and senior
Donia Naylor (Washington, D.C.) tallied 16 and 14 points respectively in the setback for the Lady Bulldogs. Naylor pulled down a team-high seven rebounds while Baker and junior
Sheldeen Joseph (Belair St. Vincent and the Grenadines, W.I.) grabbed five rebounds apiece.

RyJae Anderson along with Dhyamond Crenshaw scored 15 points each on a combined 11-of-23 shooting from the field. Jordan Payne also scored in double figures for the Hawks, adding a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs ended the game with a 29.6 field goal shooting percentage (16-of-54), which included just 6-of-31 (19.4 percent) in the first half when Bowie State went into halftime trailing 34-14. Bowie State struggled from long range, making only 1-of-10 behind the 3-point line in the first 20 minutes.

Chowan ended the contest hitting 25-of-65 from the field (38.5 percent), which included 4-of-11 (36.4 percent) behind the 3-point line. Â

The Hawks came out on a mission in the first half as they opened the contest with a 10-0 run capped by a jumper by Chantel Roberts. Chowan never looked back from that point forward and held the Lady Bulldogs to a mere four points until the 7:57 mark in the first half. Payne's basket for the Hawks with 7:11 remaining before halftime handed Chowan a 22 point lead (28-6); their largest of the half.Â
Chowan maintained a lead of 11 or more points for the entire second half before closing out the game with the 69-47 victory. The Hawks had nine different players score in the win and their bench accounted for 31 of the team's 69 points.Â

The Lady Bulldogs will look to get back into the win column on Wednesday (January 28th) when they welcome Virginia State University to the A.C. Jordan Arena for a 5:30 pm CIAA Northern Division matchup.
