Bowie, Md. - Virginia State University spotted Bowie State University a one-set advantage before running off three straight to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 3-1 on Thursday evening in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena. The loss drops Bowie State's overall record to 5-15 overall, 2-7 in the CIAA and winless at 0-6 in the conference's Northern Division.

The Lady Bulldogs tasted victory in set one, beating the Trojans by a score of 26-24. Unfortunately, Virginia State (10-7, 6-2 CIAA and 4-1 North) would not be denied, claiming wins in sets two, three and four by scores of 25-15, 25-13 and 25-19.

The Trojans were led in kills by Alexsys Pullen (Troy, Mich.) with a dozen followed by Sydney Uko (Haceienda Heights, Calif.) and Myia Jones (Chesapeake, Va.) with 10 each. Adriana Hazou (Woodbridge, Va.) contributed a team-high 12 digs and added a match-high four service aces.

Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) led the Lady Bulldogs with nine kills and senior
Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) was responsible for eight digs in the loss. Garrison and Ngundam also tallied double-figure digs, pacing Bowie State with 11 and 12 respectively.
