Bowie, Md. - In a back and forth affair the entire night, the Bowie State University volleyball team earned a hard fought divisional match, edging Elizabeth City State University in five sets by scores if 26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 24-26 and 15-11 on Monday in the A.C. Jordan Arena. Â

The win avenged an earlier season five-set loss to ECSU and sets the Bowie State record at 6-16 overall, 3-8 in league play and 1-7 in the CIAA North. Senior
Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) paced the Lady Bulldogs with double-digit kills (13) on 31 attacks and added seven digs, two service aces and a pair of block assists.

Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) contributed nine kills on the night to go along with four service aces and a team-high 20 digs. Senior

Jasmine Ashe (Baltimore, Md.) tallied eight kills each while sophomore
Valerie Taylor (Walkersville, Md.) contributed seven kills over five sets. Taylor added a match-high five service aces for the Lady Bulldogs.

Elizabeth City State (1-12, 1-9 CIAA, 1-6 North) were led by the duo of Emmesha White (Dunn, N.C.) and Chelsey Elliott (Elizabeth City, N.C.) with 13 and 10 kills respectively. Lauren Burgess (Gates, N.C.) setup her teammates 29 times and added 13 digs, three service aces and three kills for the Lady Vikings. Krysa Sawyer (Elizabeth City, N.C.) was the top defensive player of the evening, picking up a match-high 27 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs will have little time to rest as Bowie State hits the road for a Tuesday (10/20) night non-conference match at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. Match time is 7 p.m. in Cheyney's Cope Hall.
