LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Bowie State University volleyball team fell in straight sets to Shaw University on the final day of the CIAA Round-Up at Manuel Rivero Hall on the campus of Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. The Lady Bulldogs (7-21, 3-11 CIAA) fell by set scores of 16-25, 15-25 and 14-25.
Senior
Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) led the Lady Bulldogs with nine kills while fellow senior
Alexis Fisher (Chesapeake Beach, Md.) notched four. Juniors
Amy Harvey (Laurel, Md.) and
Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md.) led the team in assists with nine and seven respectively.
Ngundam and redshirt junior
Alicia Grant (Edgewood, Md.) paced Bowie State with eight and six digs respectively while Harvey and redshirt senior
Marissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) added four digs each in the loss.
Shaw (17-9, 10-3 CIAA) was led by Keveesha Wattley with a match-high 12 kills on 22 attacks. Kelly Murphy put down eight kills and teammate Deja Simpson contributed a half dozen kills.
Michelle Olmeda-Gonzalez was responsible for all 30 of Shaw's assists to go along with five service aces and three digs.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Monday (11/2) making a trip to Virginia Union for a 6 p.m. divisional contest against the Lady Panthers in Barco-Stevens Hall.
