ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - Bowie State University volleyball surrendered a two-set advantage and dropped a five-set decision at Elizabeth City State University on Monday evening. The Lady Bulldogs won sets one and two by scores of 25-18 and 25-22 before losing three straight sets by scores 18-25, 12-25 and 13-15.

The setback drops the Bowie State overall mark to 4-12, sets their conference record at 2-4 and 0-3 within the CIAA North.

Junior
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) and senior
Yaje Ngundam (Bowie, Md.) combined for 20 of Bowie State's 32 total kills, tallying 11 and nine respectively. Ngundam was also responsible for a team-high five service aces, five block assists and eight digs.

Other defensive bright spots for the Lady Bulldogs include redshirt senior
Marissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) and sophomore
Alicia Grant (Edgewood, Md.) with 18 and nine digs respectively.

Juniors
Amy Harvey (Laurel, Md.) and
Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md.) contributed 13 and 11 assists in the loss.

The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings (1-8, 1-5 CIAA, 1-2 North) were led by Chelsey Elliott with a match-high 18 kills to go along with two digs, two solo blocks and three block assists. Emmesha White ranked second on the team in kills with 12 and added three service aces, 10 digs and two block assists.

Lauren Burgess racked up match-highs of 33 assists and eight service aces in the win.

The Lady Bulldogs return to competition on Saturday (October 3rd) against St. Augustine's University to open CIAA Round-Up #2 play at 12 p.m. All weekend Round-Up events will be played on the campus of Lincoln (Pa.) University.
