BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State University volleyball avenged an earlier loss to Goldey-Beacom College, sweeping the Lightning in straight sets on Wednesday evening. The Lady Bulldogs won by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 25-22 in its home opener.

Amy Harvey (Laurel, Md.) tallied four kills on the night and picked up a half dozen digs while fellow junior
Jasmine Ashe (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a match-high five blocks and was credited with three kills.

Adrielle Brisbon (Fort Washington, Md.) setup her teammates 14 times and added six digs. Redshirt senior
Marissa Martinez (Albuquerque, N.M.) led both teams on defense with 13 digs.
Jada Canteen (Newark, Del.) and Shyanne Shank (Lebanon, Pa.) were Goldey-Beacom's top offensive players, leading the Lightning with seven kills each. Grace McCarthy (Middletown, Del.) contributed five kills to go along with 10 digs. McKenzie Wilson (Wilmington, Del.) was responsible for a team-high 12 digs. With the loss, Goldey-Beacom drops to 1-3 on the year.
The Lady Bulldogs return to the court on Friday (September 11th) as one of the participating teams in the East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University Warrior Invitational. Bowie State will take on Saint Anselm College at 12 p.m. followed by a match against Nyack College at 6 p.m.
