RALEIGH, N.C. – Bowie State University volleyball was no real threat to host Shaw University on Sunday (10/2) morning as the Bulldogs lose 3-0 (8-25, 9-25 and 17-25) in Spaulding Gymnasium. The loss dips the Bowie State season record to 2-10 and 1-8 in the CIAA.
Shaw's Kelly Murphy led the Lady Bears attack with a match-high nine kills while Amari Fletcher and Corey Rivens tacked on seven kills apiece. Mic Olmeda-Gonzalez recorded a match-high 31 sets to go along with three kills, three digs and a service ace. Tiffany Brooks was credited with seven digs for Shaw (11-5, 8-0 CIAA).
Bowie State junior
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) tallied half of the teams' total kills with five on nine attacks and recorded four block assists. Senior
Amy Harvey (Laurel, Md.) and sophomore
Cheyenne Salter (Baltimore, Md.) were responsible for five and three assists respectively.
The Bulldogs return home to host Washington Adventist University on Tuesday (10/4) night at 7 p.m. in Bowie State's A.C. Jordan Arena.
