CHEYNEY, Pa. – Junior
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) led the Bowie State University volleyball team with five kills but Cheyney University of Pennsylvania shutout the Lady Bulldogs 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13) in a non-conference matchup at Cope Hall on Wednesday night.
The loss dips the Bowie State overall record to 3-11 overall while the Cheyney Lady Wolves move to 2-9 on the year.
Senior
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) contributed three kills and collected six digs. Sophomore
Cheyenne Salter (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman
Brianna Myers (Jessup, Md.) chipped in a pair of kills each and senior
Amy Harvey added one kill.
As a team, the Lady Bulldogs had 13 kills, with five service aces and 28 digs.
Cheyney was led by Chelsea Hutson and Virshawna Campbell with 15 and 10 kills respectively. Bryanna Taylor put up 16 set assists while Akia Harris picked up a game-high nine digs.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action in less than 24 hours, hosting conference foe Lincoln University of Pennsylvania at 7 p.m. in Bowie State's A.C. Jordan Arena.
