RALEIGH, N.C. – The Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs won their third game in a row, doubling up the Shaw University Lady Bears 16-8 on Sunday (3/20) morning. With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs improve its season mark to 8-9 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA.
The Lady Bulldogs pounded out a season-high 22 hits and were led by the trio of senior
Danielle Watt (St. Leonard, Md.) along with freshmen
Jaelyn Belt (Glen Burnie, Md.) and
Tiffany Bearns (Lusby, Md.) with four hits each.
Belt racked up a personal season-high six RBI while Bearns and sophomore
Nicoleen Ochoa (Madison, Ohio) added three RBI apiece. Ochoa improved her pitching record to 3-4 on the year, struck out three and gave up 15 hits.
Shaw (4-18, 1-4 CIAA) was led by Chris Ngeve with three hits and for other Lady Bears' players recorded 2 hits each. Maria Goodman was Shaw's leading run producer with 3 RBI.
Bowie State will take on Winston-Salem State at 1:30 p.m. today to close out the CIAA Round-Up weekend.
