BOWIE, Md. – Senior
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) tallied a team-high 15 kills on 46 attacks, but it was not enough as the Bowie State women's volleyball team fell 3-1 (27-25, 25-27, 20-25 and 16-25) to Livingstone on Saturday night in the A.C. Jordan Arena to closeout day one of the CIAA Round-Up.
Bowie State (0-4/ 0-2 CIAA) fought hard in each set, but just could not get past the persistent Lady Blue Bears (4-2). As a team, Bowie State ended the match with an attack percentage of .094 compared to .179 for Livingstone.
Garrison had an attack percentage of .174 and added 11 digs, one service ace and one assist. Junior
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) finished with six kills, two kills and one assist in the loss. Junior
Cheyenne Salter (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a team-best 25 assists to go along with three kills, three service aces and seven digs.
The Livingstone trio of Shantell Billups, Endea Woodle and Jekisha Rhymes paced the visitors with 21, 14 and 13 kills respectively. The Lady Blue Bears racked up 52 total assists with Stevee Cotton leading the way with 46. With the win, Livingstone improves to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Bowie State will wrap up the weekend Round-up on Sunday (9/18), facing Winston-Salem State University at 11 a.m. the Lady Bulldogs' A.C. Jordan Arena.
