Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) tallied a team-high six kills to go along with five digs while sophomore teammate
Cheyenne Salter (Baltimore, Md.) recorded a team-high seven assists, but Chowan University defeated the Lady Bulldogs 25-13, 25-13 and 25-9, on Sunday (9/25) afternoon.
Bowie State freshmen Briana Myers (Jessup, Md.) and
Jada Mccullough (Baltimore, Md.) added two kills each in the three set loss to the Hawks.
Chowan's Morgan Spencer (Aurora, Ill.) led all players in the match with eight kills while Emalie Hicks (Calhoun, Ga.) and Suraya Chase (Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago) each picked up five kills for the Hawks. Karisa Patterson (St. Augustine, Fla.) dished out 16 assists followed by Caitlin Turner (Como, N.C.) with 10 assists. Bailey Zavala (Las Vegas, Nev.) notched 13 digs in the win for Chowan.
The loss drops the Bowie State record to 0-7 overall, 0-5 in the CIAA and 0-2 in the Northern Division. With the victory, Chowan improves to 7-6 overall, 4-1 in league play and 2-0 in the Northern Division.
The Lady Bulldogs will look to earn its first win of the season on Monday (September 26) when they host Elizabeth City State at 7 p.m.
