BOWIE, Md. -Â The Bowie State volleyball team earned its first win of the season following a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-17) sweep of visiting Elizabeth City State on Monday evening in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
The win sets the Bowie State overall record at 1-7, 1-5 in the CIAA and 1-2 in the Northern Division standings.
Senior
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) continued her senior leadership pacing the BSU Lady Bulldogs with a match-high 11 kills. Junior
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) contributed seven kills, four digs and one solo block, while freshman
Brianna Myers (Jessup, Md.) chipped in six kills and tied for a match-high 11 digs. Sophomore
Cheyenne Salter (Baltimore, Md.) ended the three-set sweep with a match-high 21 assists to go along with four kills and six digs.
Elizabeth City State (0-11, 0-6 CIAA, 0-3 North) was led by Auzheure Jackson's (San Diego, Calif.) team-high 10 kills, while Lauren Burgess (Gates, N.C.) finished with a team-leading 10 assists. Nikhaule Singleton (Greenville, N.C.) totaled 10 digs to lead the Lady Vikings.
Bowie State will try for its second consecutive victory when it travels across town to Washington Adventist University on Tuesday (Sept. 27) with first serve set for 7 p.m.
