BALTIMORE, Md. – The Notre Dame University of Maryland volleyball team defeated visiting Bowie State University 3-0 (25-3, 25-10, 25-9) on Saturday (9/3) afternoon and improved its record to 2-0.
Freshman
Brianna Myers (Jessup, Md.) led Bowie State with three kills and added five digs and one solo block. The Bulldogs managed just five total kills with junior
Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore
Cheyenne Salter (Baltimore, Md.) accounting for one kill each in the loss. Garrison tallied a team-high eight digs while junior
Kelisha Perry (Baltimore, Md.) and Myers contributed five digs apiece for Bowie State.
Senior Cleaya Antez and freshman Mary Marquez paced the Gators' offense. Antez finished with a game-high 14 digs and added seven service aces, while Marquez tallied seven kills and ten digs.
Freshman Kayleigh Davis matched Marquez' mark of seven kills and also posted three services aces and a pair of digs. Junior Jamie Reyes led the team with 20 aces, while junior Bobbi McDowell posted a pair of blocks.
Notre Dame totaled 28 kills, to go along with 25 assists, 41 digs and a pair of blocks in the win.
Bowie State (0-1) returns to the court on Tuesday (September 6), hosting Goldey-Beacom College at 6 p.m. in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
