Bulldogs Volleyball Rolls Past Cheyney Wolves 3-0

BOWIE, Md. - Senior Kiana Moore (Newark, Del.) paced Bowie State's volleyball team with a team-high seven kills and junior Brittainy Houck (Burns. Ore.) added a match-high eight service aces, four kills and seven digs in the Bulldogs straight set win over visiting Cheyney (Pa.) on Wednesday evening in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
 
The Bulldogs rolled in sets one and two, winning by scores of 25-15 and 25-17 but had to come from behind in set three to close out the night with 25-23 decision.
 
Houck and senior Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) tallied for kills apiece and freshman Caitland Okorafor (Hyattsville, Md.) chipped in three kills, three digs and one assist in the win. Freshman Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) was Bowie State's primary setup person with a team-high 10 assists while sophomore Jordan Smith (Columbia, Md.) picked up a team-high eight digs.
 
Virshawna Campbell collected a game-high 11 kills, but for the second time this season, the Cheyney University volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to HBCU rival Bowie State University on Wednesday night, this time on the road, inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
 
Bryanna Taylor recorded a game-high 13 assists and eight digs to lead The Wolves (0-17).
 
Alaiya Cave added five kills, two service aces, six digs and two solo blocks for Cheyney and Jamera Stanciel accounted for two kills, five assists, three aces and two digs.
 
Tykisha Jackson recorded seven digs and a kill, Laquana Speaks was credited with a kill an ace and four digs and Campbell also had an ace and five digs to go with her 11 kills.
 
Bowie State (3-19) returns to the court on Wednesday, October 25th, playing host to Washington Adventist University. First serve between the Bulldogs and Shock is set for 7 p.m.
