BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State University dominated visiting Washington Adventist University volleyball on Wednesday night, rolling past the Lady Shock in straight sets (25-13, 25-20 and 25-17), winning their third straight match. The Bulldogs last put together a three match win streak during the 2014 season.
Senior
Tia Williams (Abingdon, Md.) and freshman
Sydney Tucker (Columbia, Md.) paced Bowie State (4-19) with a half dozen kills each with each contributing 10 attacks apiece. Senior
Kiana Moore (Newark, Del.) chipped in five kills on 10 attacks and freshman
Caitland Okorafor (Hyattsville, Md.) added four kills in the sweep.
Freshmen
Oladia Menchaca (Landover, Md.) and
Bianca Tucker (Edgewood, Md.) were responsible for 13 and 10 assists respectively
Washington Adventist (4-9) was led by Daisa Legette (Kissimmee, Fla.) with six kills to go along with four service aces and two digs. Spring McCarthy (Gaithersburg, Md.) ranked second on the Lady Shock team in kills with five while the trio of Courtney Tooley (Hagerstown, Md.), Geraldine Collot (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Cristal Salazar (Silver Spring, Md.) recorded three kills each in the loss.
D'Shanee' Blake (St. Thomas, USVI) accounted for 12 of the Washington Adventist 15 assists.
The Bulldogs will hit the road for the next two matches, playing a tri-match versus Goldey-Beacom College and host Georgian Court University on Saturday (October 28th) at 1 and 3 p.m.
