BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State University women's tennis team lost twice to Virginia Union University, 7-2 and 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at the BSU Tennis Courts.

Bowie State (0-6, 0-6 CIAA) fell behind 3-0 through the match one doubles action dropping a 9-7 decision at No. 1 doubles and 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles. Bowie State forfeited at No. 3 doubles.

Dainese Smothers (Washington, D.C.) lost her No. 1 singles match to VUU's Sabrina Connor (The Valley, Anguilla) by a score of 8-0. Bowie State captured wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles as freshmen
Kionza Allen (Laurel, Md.) and
Kamari Eason (Oxon Hill, Md.) defeated the Lady Panthers by scores of 8-6 and 8-4 respectively. The Bulldogs duo of sophomore
Jocelyn Williams (Washington, D.C.) and freshman
Lanisha Cooper (Waldorf, Md.) were shutout 8-0 in their respective No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches. Due to limited players, Bowie State forfeited No. 6 singles to Virginia Union.
In match two, the Bowie State's Allen and Eason earned wins again at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, winning 8-6 and 8-4 respectively.
The Lady Panthers (5-8, 5-6 CIAA) swept doubles, won No. 4 and No. 5 singles by a count of 8-0 and defeated Bowie State by forfeit at No. 6 singles in match two.
Bowie State will be back in action Thursday, April 6 at Trinity (D.C.) College with a start time scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
